English video to Hindi translation you can listen to, while it plays

EarDub is a free Chrome extension for English video to Hindi translation. It translates the video's captions into conversational Hindi and speaks them in a natural Hindi voice, in sync with the picture — on YouTube, Udemy, Coursera and other sites. You don't upload anything or wait for a file: press one button and hear the video in Hindi.

Translate video to Hindi without uploading it

Search for a way to translate a video to Hindi and most results are tools for creators: upload your video, wait for it to process, then download a new Hindi version to publish. That makes sense if the video is yours.

Upload-and-export translators

Built for creators who want to publish their own video in Hindi. You upload a file or paste a link, wait, and download a translated copy — often with voice cloning and lip sync, usually priced per minute.

EarDub, for the person watching

Built for when the video is someone else's and you just want to understand it. It works on the page you already have open: nothing to upload, nothing to download, Hindi audio from the first minute.

English video ko Hindi mein kaise sune? 3 steps

Want to listen to an English video in Hindi instead of reading subtitles? Set it up once, then every video is one click.

  1. 1

Add EarDub to Chrome and choose Hindi

Install the free extension, sign in, and pick Hindi as the language you want to hear. Every video you dub after that is in Hindi.

  2. 2

On YouTube, Udemy and Coursera the Dub button sits at the bottom-right of the player. On other sites, click the EarDub icon in the Chrome toolbar and choose “Dub this video”.

    Listen to it in Hindi

EarDub translates the captions into Hindi sentence by sentence and speaks them in a natural Hindi voice, in step with the video. Press the button again to hear the original English.

Hindi that sounds like an Indian YouTuber, not a textbook

A word-by-word translation read out in shuddh Hindi is hard to follow. EarDub is tuned to sound the way Indians actually explain things:

Everyday spoken Hindi

Conversational Hindustani instead of Sanskritized words, with English kept for terms Indians really say in English — app, settings, download, coding terms.

Hindi sentence order and Indian numbers

Sentences are rebuilt in natural Hindi order instead of copying English word order, and big numbers come out as lakh and crore, the way you think of them.

In sync with the video

Each sentence plays while the speaker says it. Pause, rewind or skip ahead and the Hindi audio follows.

Natural Hindi voices

Choose a male or female Hindi voice such as Madhur or Swara, keep the original English quietly underneath, and turn on Hindi–English subtitles when you want to check a word.

Watch English YouTube videos in Hindi

YouTube plays a Hindi audio track only when the creator has added one or turned on YouTube's auto-dubbing, so most English videos — tutorials, tech reviews, podcasts, lectures — have no Hindi audio at all.

EarDub works on any YouTube video with captions, including auto-generated ones. That covers most English videos on YouTube, so you can watch them in Hindi without waiting for the creator. More detail on the YouTube video translator page.

Translate Udemy and Coursera courses to Hindi

Many of the best courses on Udemy and Coursera — programming, AWS, data science, design — are taught in English. With EarDub you can follow the lecture in Hindi while you watch the code or the slides, and on both sites the Hindi dub carries on into the next lecture automatically.

Is English to Hindi video translation free?

Yes. EarDub is free to install, and every account gets 30 minutes of Hindi dubbing a day — up to 3 videos a day, each up to 60 minutes long — with no credit card.

Only the minutes you actually dub are counted. Pausing or rewatching a part you already dubbed costs nothing extra. If you watch a lot, Basic ($9.99 a month) covers 60 hours a month and Pro ($19.99 a month) has no published limit. See all plans.

English video to Hindi translation FAQ

Can I translate a video to Hindi audio, not just Hindi subtitles?

Yes. That is what EarDub does: it plays the Hindi translation as spoken audio, timed to the video, and lowers the English underneath. Hindi subtitles are available too if you want to read along.

Can it convert an English video into a Hindi video file?

No. EarDub dubs the video while you watch and creates no file to download. If you need a Hindi version of your own video to publish, an upload-and-export tool is the right choice.

Is there a mobile app for English video to Hindi translation?

Not yet. EarDub is a Chrome extension for computers. On a phone, YouTube's own Hindi audio track is available only for videos where the creator has added one.

How good is the Hindi translation?

Captions are joined into full sentences and translated with the context of the video, into conversational Hindi rather than textbook Hindi. Technical words stay the way Indians say them, and big numbers use lakh and crore.

Can it translate English videos into Tamil, Telugu or Bengali?

Not yet. Among Indian languages EarDub currently dubs into Hindi only. It also speaks 16 other languages, including English, Arabic, Indonesian and Vietnamese.

Which videos cannot be translated to Hindi?

Videos with no captions at all, because EarDub translates from the captions (YouTube's auto-generated captions are fine). Some players embedded from other sites, such as Vimeo embeds, are not supported yet either.
