Acceptable Use Policy

1. Scope

This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") is part of the EarDub Terms of Service. It applies to everything EarDub processes or produces: the caption text of the videos you choose to dub (our only input; EarDub has no free-form prompts and accepts no uploads), the AI translations shown as subtitles, and the AI-synthesized speech that reads them aloud.

2. Prohibited content

You may not use EarDub to generate, reproduce or spread any of these six categories of content, including by dubbing videos that contain them:

• Pornography and NSFW content: sexually explicit material, or content designed for sexual arousal.
• Violence and gore: graphic depictions of violence, injury or death, and content that glorifies or incites violence.
• Hate speech: content that attacks or dehumanizes people because of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or other protected characteristics.
• Child-unsafe content (CSAM): any sexual content involving minors, and any content that sexualizes, grooms or endangers children.
• Deepfakes and impersonation: using dubbing to pass off speech as the words or voice of a real person, or to deceive listeners about who is speaking or where content came from.
• Copyright and trademark infringement: republishing, selling or distributing dubbed audio or translations of content you have no rights to, or using others' trademarks to mislead.

2.1 Zero tolerance

The following lead to immediate account termination and, where required or appropriate, a report to the authorities (child sexual abuse material is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children or the competent national authority):

• Child sexual abuse material, or any sexual content involving minors.
• Content that promotes or facilitates terrorism, violent extremism or mass violence.
• Instructions for making weapons of mass destruction.
• Incitement to genocide or ethnic hatred.
• Non-consensual sexual deepfakes of real people.

2.2 Restricted content

Some content is allowed only in context, and only as far as YouTube itself makes it available to your account:

• Violent or disturbing content: only for news, documentary, educational or artistic purposes.
• Mature themes: only on videos YouTube makes available to you, and never sexual content.
• Medical, legal and financial information: dubs are machine translations, not professional advice; check with a qualified professional.

2.3 Other prohibited conduct

• Re-uploading, selling or distributing dubbed audio or translations.
• Impersonating individuals, brands or organizations.
• Presenting AI dubbing as a human translation or as a real person's voice.
• Using dubs to spread misinformation or disproven claims.
• Bypassing our safety measures, quotas or rate limits, or automating requests.
• Violating YouTube's Terms of Service or the rights of creators.

3. Safeguards built into EarDub

• Moderated sources only: EarDub dubs the captions of videos published on YouTube, which are already subject to YouTube's Community Guidelines and moderation. You cannot upload files or type prompts.
• No voice cloning: dubs are read by a fixed set of preset synthetic voices from Microsoft's text-to-speech service. EarDub cannot imitate a specific real person's voice.
• Private playback: dubs play only in your own browser, next to the original video, and the EarDub control in the player shows whenever an AI dub is playing. EarDub has no public gallery, sharing or publishing feature.

4. Content moderation

4.1 Automated screening (real time). Two automated checks run on every dub. When you request a dub, the video's captions are screened against a maintained list of prohibited terms (currently focused on child sexual abuse material, in more than 15 languages): videos with repeated matches are refused, and single matches are logged for review. Every translated line is screened again before it is turned into speech, and a matching line is never voiced or shown. The translation model's own safety systems apply as well.

4.2 Blocklist. Videos confirmed to violate this Policy are added to a blocklist and can no longer be dubbed by anyone, and their cached dubs are deleted.

4.3 Human review. Automated flags and user reports are reviewed by the EarDub team, who decide on the action to take (Section 7).

4.4 Logs and audits. Every automated match, refusal and enforcement decision is recorded in a moderation log. We review the log and update the term list at least once a month, and whenever a new pattern is reported.

4.5 Severity levels:

• L1 Critical (child safety, terrorism): blocked automatically where detected, confirmed with priority by a person; immediate ban and report to the authorities.
• L2 High (other zero-tolerance or severe violations): flagged for priority review; content removed and account suspended.
• L3 Medium (other violations of Section 2): human review; warning and content removal.
• L4 Low (minor violations): reviewed when reported; warning.

5. How to report

Report any content or behavior that violates this Policy, anything involving the safety of a child, or a dub that impersonates you or infringes your rights:

• Online form: eardub.com/feedback, choose "Report content" and include the video link.
• Email: support@eardub.com with the subject "Content report", the video link and what you found.

Reports are confidential: we never reveal who reported. Every report is reviewed on its merits; deliberately false or abusive reports are recorded and may themselves lead to action.

6. Response times

• L1 Critical: action within 24 hours of the report.
• L2 High: first response within 2 business days, resolution within 5 business days.
• L3 Medium: first response within 3 business days, resolution within 7 business days.
• L4 Low: first response within 5 business days, resolution within 15 business days.

Process: report received → classified L1–L4 → reviewed → decision → enforcement → reporter notified (when they gave us an email address). If a case needs more time, we tell the reporter why.

7. Enforcement

Depending on severity and history, we take one or more of these actions:

• Warning: an email explaining the violation. For first-time minor violations.
• Content removal: the video's cached dub is deleted and the video is blocked from dubbing. For confirmed violations at any level.
• Feature restriction: reduced quota or a downgrade to the Free plan. For repeated minor violations.
• Account suspension: sign-in and dubbing disabled while we review. For L2 or repeated violations.
• Permanent ban: the account is closed and cannot be reopened; paid time is not refunded. For L1 or repeated L2 violations.
• Legal action: a report to the authorities and cooperation with their investigation. For criminal L1 violations.

8. Appeals

If you think we made a mistake, email support@eardub.com with the subject "Appeal" within 30 days of our decision. We re-examine the case, including any new information you provide, and reply within 10 business days.

9. Changes to this Policy

We update this Policy as the product and the law evolve. The date above shows the current version; material changes are announced on our website at least 15 days before they take effect.
