EarDub

Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 14, 2026

Overview

EarDub ("we", "us") is a Chrome extension that translates YouTube videos into AI voice dubbing in your language. This policy explains what data the extension and our backend handle. Dubbing requires a free Google sign-in; aside from what is needed to run the service and your account, we collect as little data as possible.

What we collect

Account and usage data: dubbing requires a free Google sign-in. Through our authentication provider, Supabase, we store your email address and a Google account identifier to identify your account, and we record how many minutes you have dubbed on each video per month to enforce your plan's quota.

Caption text of videos you dub: when you click the dub button, the video's caption text and basic metadata (video ID, title, language) are sent to our servers so we can translate it and generate audio. We never see videos you merely watch without dubbing.

Settings: your language, voice, and volume preferences are stored in Chrome's extension storage and synced by Chrome if you enabled browser sync.

Feedback: if you submit feedback on our website, we receive your message and the email address you optionally provide.

Payment: paid subscriptions are processed by Creem, our Merchant of Record. Creem handles your payment; we store only a customer and subscription identifier, your plan, and its status, and never receive or store your full card details. We do not collect your browsing history, search queries, or passwords.

How we use data

To provide the dubbing service (translate captions and synthesize speech), to manage your account and subscription, to enforce your monthly plan quota, to debug problems and prevent abuse, and to improve translation and audio quality. We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across websites.

Third-party processors

To run the service we send the minimum necessary data to: Google (sign-in / OAuth, when you choose to log in), Supabase (your account, dubbing job records and usage counts; database and authentication hosting), Creem (your email and payment details, to process subscriptions as our Merchant of Record), DeepSeek (caption text, for translation), Microsoft Azure (translated text, for speech synthesis), Cloudflare (generated audio files, for storage and delivery), and Vercel (API hosting). Each provider receives only what is required for its function.

Data retention and deletion

Generated audio and dubbing job records are cached so repeat requests for the same video are instant, and may be periodically cleaned up. To request deletion of your account and associated data, email us at support@eardub.com.

Chrome permissions explained

storage: saves your settings. youtube.com access: reads caption data and overlays the dubbing player on the page. api.eardub.com access: sends captions to and receives audio from our backend. The extension runs only on youtube.com.

Children

EarDub is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We will post any changes on this page and update the date above. Significant changes will be highlighted on our website.
